if thats what you believe... then you're right [25 Dec 2009|02:01am]

it hit me in a moment tonight what christmas is about.
my friend's mom just told me it's about "getting everyone together".

we'll take any excuse we can to get everyone together, and its a pretty awesome thing you know? like i would take any chance i could to get all my friends together who i met when i was 5 years old, to hang out and talk about our lives around a fire for hours and hours. its just like, this day makes them remember that they will too if theres a reason like christmas. but why does it have to be christmas? its just a unanimous decision. an agreement. a contract.

now im not gonna let myself get into the contract thing now but it just feels good to be around a bunch of people who really know you and respect and love you. not even because of what you do or why but just because you are there and they know you are there. its a hard thing to describe but i mean, those kids will always just be something important to me cause we choose to be a part of each others lives after all this time, through all the dumb crap, we choose to hang out still. and thats the foundation of any good relationship, you are still both choosing it when you can.

i realized christmas is meaningless to me because i have the "christmas spirit" all year long. i just want everyone to get together, eat well, appreciate each other, and share resources if they want to. i mean. thats my general approach to life. i dont necessarily need christmas as an excuse. so yeah, merry every damn day to y'all

"As soon as you concern yourself with the 'good' and 'bad' of your fellows," said Morihei Ueshiba, founder of the martial art of aikido, "you create an opening in your heart for maliciousness to enter. Testing, competing with, and criticizing others weaken and defeat you."

I concluded that, unfortunately, only a few want to hear how to become free, stop identifying with
their false beliefs, do what they want to do (instead of ‘working for a living’), and live in joy which is
what we are designed to do. I felt as if I were my own minority group – I truly do want to know that
which I don’t want to know. Most want security over freedom. As most people identify with their
beliefs, giving them up would present the fear, ‘who would I BE?’ If they were to open their minds, drop
their preconceived notions and their psychological prejudices, let go of the concept that their beliefs are
who they are, they might become enlightened.
Millions of unconscious people are not taking responsibility for their inner peace. – Eckhart Tolle.

so im back in the valley, and theres beer here, and my family, and a couch with some on demand movies, and... yeah. thats what im working with so far. don't have to be anxious... i can make different choices.

im a wuss and i miss my girlfriend already. im excited about the house we're moving into when i get back, and the life that we are both working toward full of freedom and creativity and possibility and expression.

im gonna try to be me down here without freaking anyone out too much, but it does become harder and harder to relate. i would be lying if i said i didn't feel some fear of being judged and have the meaning of my words diminished. its just a bigger challenge for me to think before i speak or act. maintain control. it will be ok.
